Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a consent for a retaining wall?
Usually, yes if the wall is over 1.5m tall or if it carries a surcharge (like a driveway or building above it). However, every site is different. We can advise you on whether a consent is likely required and we can coordinate with engineers and the council on your behalf.
Can you give me a quote without visiting the site?
No. Earthworks and retaining walls are highly dependent on the specific site conditions, access, soil types, and gradients. Providing a quote over the phone without seeing the site often leads to hidden costs later. We prefer to do a proper site visit so we can give you an honest, accurate price upfront.
Do you dry hire machinery?
No. All our machinery comes with a highly experienced TBT operator. This ensures the job is done safely, efficiently, and to our high standards. We do not hire out our gear for self-drive.
Do you take residential jobs?
Yes. While we handle large civil construction and subdivision projects, we still regularly take on residential work, including driveway preparations, residential retaining walls, and section clearing. If you're unsure if a job is too small, just give Trent a call.
What areas do you service?
We service the wider Canterbury region, with a strong focus on Christchurch, Rolleston, Rangiora, Lincoln, and the Port Hills.
Still have a question?
Trent is always happy to have a chat about your project requirements.
