Subdivision earthworks are among the most complex jobs TBT Earthworks undertakes - involving bulk earthmoving, precise roading formation, drainage installation, and coordination with civil engineers, surveyors, and the relevant council throughout the process.
This Oxford project involved building a new right-of-way road to service a 7-lot subdivision in North Canterbury. Oxford sits in the Waimakariri district - an area seeing increasing residential development pressure as Canterbury grows and buyers look north of the city for larger sections and more affordable land.
What Goes Into a Subdivision Road Build
A new subdivision road is not just a matter of running a grader over bare ground. The formation involves: stripping of topsoil, bulk cut and fill to achieve the required grade, installation of stormwater and service trenches, aggregate sub-base compacted in layers to engineering specification, and kerb and channel preparation before the roading contractor takes over for the seal.
TBT managed all earthworks on this project, working to the civil engineer's formation levels and coordinating handover to the kerb and channel contractor on completion.
