A NZS 3604 ring foundation is a standard residential foundation type used widely across Canterbury for light timber frame construction on sites with adequate bearing capacity. The ring foundation consists of a concrete perimeter beam poured into a formed trench, with internal ground beams where required by the engineer's design.
The earthworks for a ring foundation require precise trench excavation to the dimensions and depth specified in the structural drawings. An accurate cut means the concrete crew can form and pour without having to make remedial adjustments on site - which saves time and cost on the overall build programme.
Getting the Excavation Right
A clean, accurate foundation cut depends on the operator reading the engineer's drawings correctly, setting out the correct dimensions, and cutting to the specified depth without disturbing the bearing material at the base of the trench. TBT's operators are experienced with 3604 foundation work across both flat and sloping Canterbury sites.
