Subdivision road work on Cashmere hillsides is a different proposition to flat subdivision roading. The terrain requires careful sequencing of cut and fill, attention to the stability of any exposed batters during construction, and precise formation grading to ensure the finished road drains correctly without causing erosion to the slopes above or below.
This project involved cutting the road formation into the hillside and preparing it for kerb and channel installation. The photo shows the formation ready for the kerb crew - cut to grade, rock and instability cleared, and the batter above stabilised.
Hill Site Road Building in Canterbury
Hill site subdivision roads in Canterbury's Port Hills and Banks Peninsula areas often require rock breaking as well as earthmoving, batter stabilisation, and in some cases retaining structures along the cut face. TBT Earthworks has the equipment and experience to handle all of these requirements - including a fleet of machines from 5 to 15 tonnes to match the right size to the access constraints of each site.
